The news that the 2020 edition of Art Dubai was being postponed due to the  coronavirus pandemic left a big art-shaped hole in the city's cultural calendar.

It was due to take place between March 25th and 28th at Madinat Jumeirah but partners and stakeholders agreed it should be delayed. Since the initial announcement, the Dubai government has urged everyone to only go outdoors for essential reasons.

While the annual show has plenty of fans, we're not sure anyone would disagree with the decision to halt it.

In its place is a digital programme, which launched yesterday (Monday March 23rd).

The official site  is hosting an online catalogue, a Global Art Forum live broadcast and a performance programme from Marina Fokidis on the subject of healing.

You can expect Planetary Feeds offering interviews and insights from around the world, live Newshour Specials on the stories coming out of the COVID-19 situation (starting at 6pm on Wednesday March 25th) and more.

The 14th edition of Art Dubai proper will take place between March 17th and 20th 2021 at Madinat Jumeirah.

In a statement, Art Dubai says: "As always, our commitment remains to the well-being of all our participants, contributors and partners, and we extend our shared empathy to everyone in these challenging times."
