The founder and managing director of Dubai’s Kart Group, Mustafa Khamash, has told Commercial Interior Design it would be “a dream” to work on the UAE’s pavilion at Venice Biennale 2020.
Kart Group, an interior design and luxury furniture importer based in Dubai Design District, is currently working on a secretive design for the UAE country pavilion at Biennale, a huge art exhibition held in Venice, Italy.
“We are working with the UAE government to design a UAE pavilion for Biennale 2020 in Venice,” he said. “We are still in the design competition stage, but this would be a dream to be nominated to design the UAE pavilion in 2020, so we will cross our fingers and wait,” Khamash added.
The company has already confirmed it is involved in a design competition to work on the prestigious UAE country pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which has been designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.
In conjunction to these design competitions, Kart Group is steadily expanding its sphere of geographic influence by moving into different countries. Saudi Arabia is one that Kart is looking at seriously, as the kingdom works toward its Vision 2030 strategy for social and economic transformation.
The company has recently signed a deal to work on what Khamash called “stunning” residential penthouses in Jeddah.
Kart Group has also started work on an exclusive villa in Moscow, Russia, for a private client.
