Omniyat Group has announced the construction of ultra-luxury hospitality brand Dorchester Collection’s first property in the Middle East is on schedule to be completed by the end of 2020, designed by UK architecture firm Foster + Partners.
The development includes a residential component comprising of 39 apartments expected to be ready for invite only viewing later this year, Arabian Business reported. View more images of the project here.
Mahdi Amjad, CEO and executive chairman of Omniyat, said: “This partnership with Dorchester Collection has been a monumental milestone for Omniyat. Our curated partnership with world renowned designers and architects will showcase a signature experience that combines great hospitality with exceptional design in Dubai’s most prestigious address on the banks of Dubai Canal.”
The images reveal a set of two glass towers that interconnect at various levels of the building through the use of outdoor terraces. Tall, white columns appear to connect the gaps between the floors where the sky gardens are located.
The project will feature private arrival locations for hotel guests and residents, and will include dining and retail outlets.
The vast building complex, which can be either viewed as a single skyscraper or a series of six building, will feature 'sky courts' and terraces (which connect the six buildings), positioned strategically to amplify shading and prevent direct sunlight, while directing prevailing winds over its many water features.
The Dubai-based developer also annonced that it has recently secured financing for the fit-out of Zaha Hadid-designed ME by Melia hotel, which is part of The Opus building also designed by the late Iraqi-British architect.
