New Flow Cafe's design includes self-service honey and milk station
The healthy eating concept branched out into Dubai's Media City earlier in 2020
The perfect coffee is as individual as we are. So when TwentyOne06 designed the interior of the new Flow Cafe, they incorporated a personalisation station to craft the ideal cuppa.
Inspiration from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Maxims from the Ruler of Dubai and Vice President of the UAE, motivated the UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Shamma Bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, to found Flow.
The healthy eating concept branched out into Dubai's Internet City earlier in 2020, after first opening in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, DIFC.
Boutique interior design agency TwentyOne06 was tasked with bringing life to the new outlet.
TwentyOne06 creative director, Govind Shepley, tells us how they tackled the project: "We approached this by researching the brand, understanding what makes it's hero points, how it is operated, and its individual USPs. We then looked into the location where the new Flow café will be situated to understand the clientele, the footfall and its competition. This allowed us to understand how we needed to adapt the brand and what we needed to offer.
"We identified the key clientele that we would be catering for - people working in the building and surrounding buildings, people looking for a healthy but quality lunch, people who want to sit and work and people who wanted to be educated on its produce."
He adds: "After our design was completed and the project opened the client had a guideline of budget, design outline and how to create a viable franchise template. They plan to do so with several more locations on the horizon. We love it when that happens. But don’t worry, each one will have its own hero piece within it."
Three elements make up the design DNA - craft, a sense of being energetic and sustainability.
The cafe has a Natufia microgreens growing unit that supplies fresh produce and reduces purchases of the same by 20 per cent.
A self-service honey and milk station has unique milk taps offering soy, coconut and oat milk, as well as fresh honey dripping straight from an open honeycomb.
A hero piece of tiered platform seating is functional by day and at night, it transforms into an auditorium for talks and events.
