Take a look inside Anarchitect's Al Faya Lodge in Sharjah
Dubai-and-London-based studio Anarchitect has completed the design for Al Faya Lodge, located at the foot of Mount Alvaah in the emirate of Sharjah.
The desert retreat is part of the Sharjah Collection - a group of boutique hotels and eco-retreats set across key locations throughout Sharjah Emirate, set up by Shurooq - Sharjah Investment and Development Authority.
Featuring two single-story buildings from the 1960s - which were previously a clinic and a grocery store - Anarchitect has restored the buildings into a contemporary lodge and restaurant, as well as adding a newly built saltwater spa building.
The architecture and interior design of the project are harmoniously integrated, with materials, forms, and contrasts between old and new weaving into one another.
The Lodge comprises of a dining, reception room, library and roof terrace. The retreat is created as a single entity, and should be booked as a whole. The roof features a private terrace for the luxe-room and a communal terrace for all.
The desert landscape plays a vital role in the design language of the project, including CorTen steel, teak hardwoods, and plastered-render, offering subtle tonal changes and textures to the buildings and the interior spaces within.
An in-depth case study about Al Faya Lodge will be published in the June issue of Commercial Interior Design .
