Emirati product designer Khalid Shafar, former Perkins+Will design director Diane Thorsen and Paul Bishop of Bishop Design are among the high-profile people confirmed to speak at the DesignMENA Summit 2019.
Shafar will join Thorsen and Bishop – two of the region’s most influential creative leaders – at the DesignMENA Summit 2019, which is held on 4 December at the Grosvenor House in Dubai Marina.
The trio join a strong line-up of speakers for the disruptive design forum that will tackle undercutting, the fourth industrial revolution, the war on waste, growth opportunities in Saudi Arabia and how to elevate design standards.
Joining the trio is Studio EM’s managing director Kristian Stinson, Sotiris Tsoulos, design director of architecture practice RMJM and Dr Carlos Alberto Montana-Hoyos, founding associate professor of the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation.
Other high-profile names taking part include the managing director of Roar, Kathryn Athreya, Esra Lemmens, founder of design consultancy Esra Lemmens Agency, and Laura Bielecki, senior interior design manager at boutique real estate developer Ellington Group.
The seventh iteration of the DesignMENA Summit 2019 comes at a time of significant change in the regional industry.
Questions related to the future of the trade, including perspectives on the economic outlook and opportunities for growth in emerging markets in Africa and Asia will be discussed at the event.
