Boutique interior design practice Roar is making an installation using recycled materials to “create a fleeting moment of fun” at the Commercial Interior Design Awards 2019.
Roar and fit-out contractor Emky have teamed up to design and build an exciting and playful installation that is set to amaze guests attending the CID Awards 2019 on Wednesday, 11 September.
“We wanted to create a fleeting moment of fun, as the CID Awards should be a celebration for everyone, not just the winners,” said Pallavi Dean, founder and creative director, Roar.
“It's first and foremost a playful installation, with the pod giving the illusion that it's floating under a canopy of balloons. It's also very tactile. You have to walk through a mini jungle of tassels suspended from the ceiling before, ‘bam!’ you arrive for your Instagram moment. Crucially, we used mostly recycled materials to cut down on waste: this not a 'forever' space but a bit of fun for the night, so sustainability is key.”
Emkay is the fit-out partner of the CID Awards 2019 and Tarek Ardakani, director of operations, said the company was delighted with its collaboration with Roar.
“We are proud to be the fit-out partners again this year for the biggest event in our industry. Every year we partner up with a renowned firm to present a new experience,” he said. This year design by Roar have outdone themselves by presenting creative, fun, and sustainable designs... surely a wonderful Instagrammable moment.”
Roar has been shortlisted in several categories at the CID Awards 2019, including Interior Design Boutique Firm of the Year.
