The Outstanding Use of American Hardwoods award was presented to Pandre Special Architecture for its Nad Al Sheba Garden Pavilion project.
Mark Klever, the firm’s head of design, who accepted the award said: We’re happy. It’s one of those projects which is small in scale but there are lots of design elements and concepts in it. We’re very happy to be recognised for it.
“Apart from good use of timber and design, it speaks about indoor-outdoor connections, local customs and how it can be represented in a contemporary way.”
He further added: “We’re a new company, so we are really happy to have been recognised for our efforts. We do have a lot of support from our team and partners and we are delighted that this award has given us the recognition for all our hard work.
The judges applauded the winning project’s extensive and thoughtful use of American hardwoods in the modern annexe project, which complements the traditional majlis inside the villa.
Highly Commended recognition was given to Optifashion, the eyewear store in Dubai’s La Mer precinct, by AIC Design.
