With over 10 years of professional experience working for internationally acclaimed architectural practices in Europe and the Middle East, Jonathan Ashmore founded the award-winning RIBA-chartered practice Anarchitect.
A postgraduate of the renowned Bartlett School of Architecture in London, Ashmore is an elected member of the RIBA Gulf Chapter, and a British Council Cultural Excellence Fellowship Mentor. He is also an active design critic and regular architectural speaker at various professional platforms and international academic institutions.
His diverse portfolio spans residential, leisure, hospitality, workplace and cultural projects; several of which have received international design awards with work regularly published around the world in the global design press. At the Commercial Interior Design Awards 2017, Anarchitect won ‘Best Outdoor Design’ and ‘Retail Project of the Year’.
Ongoing projects include Al Faya Desert Resort, Sharjah, featuring contemporary interventions in two existing historic structures with the addition of a new saltwater spa building, and Harding Boutique Hotel in southern Sri Lanka, which broke ground this September.
Anarchitect will also be delivering Bahrain’s first design-led co-working space. Within the residential sector, the firm is currently working on an extremely challenging private villa project in the UAE, where the building is set atop shifting sand dunes, requiring a high degree of skill and expertise in structural design.
