Architecture is always a hot topic in the UAE emirate of Sharjah, which in 2019 hosted the inagural Sharjah Architecture Triennial.
This year, all discussion is happening online and the industry is encouraged to get involved with a virtual talks series by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).
Sharjah Designscape takes place every Thursday at 8pm until August 6th.
The series of seven webinars will highlight and discuss the current architecture landscape of Sharjah and the future outlook and transformation of this field within the emirate and the world, while also offering insights into emerging trends in urban design and technological innovation for ‘smart cities’ initiatives.
'Sustainability in Architecture' was the first topic on the table, with discussion from Dara Towhidi, partner and architect, Fosters and Partners; Nada Taryam, director of Civil and Architecture Projects, Bee’ah and Khawla Al Hashimi, director of Projects at Shurooq.
Interactive sessions taking place over the next six weeks are 'Socially Inclusive Design;' 'Future Trends in City Design;' 'Future Trends of Educational Spaces;' 'Resilient Cities;' 'Can Traditional and Modern Coexist?' and 'Lights & Architecture.'
