We are thrilled to announce the shortlist for the CID Awards 2019, which takes place on Wednesday, 11 September, at the Joharah Ballroom in Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.
We have received more than 400 submissions across 18 categories from 120 companies – a record number for the CID Awards. Over the coming week, we will be releasing the names of the finalists in all the categories.
Here is the full shortlist for Interior Fit-Out Project of the Year.
Akira Back, ISG
ISG fitted out the entire Akira Back, which covers 1,552m², including, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a saké room, bar, live cooking stations, kitchen and back of house area. Fit-out highlights included 350 pieces of bespoke furniture — all manufactured locally —, 15 various types of wall finishes, 11 types of floor finishes, six types of lighting. More than 80% of the fit-out items and finishes were locally sourced. The entire project lasterd 26 weeks and finished in February 2019.
Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Depa Interiors
With inviting interiors, warm and unmatched levels of service, Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai is set to bring a new wave of luxury to the shores of the emirate.
The 235-key hotel contains 200 rooms and suites and 12 over-water villas accessible via a private beach with its own infinity pool. Depa’s scope included delivering the fit-out and furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) of all guestrooms and public areas within a tight 13-month timeframe.
Wavehouse, Al Tayer Stocks
The Paul Bishop-designed bar Wavehouse in Atlantis The Palm encompasses a multitude of layered spatial experiences forming a visual connection to the wave machine that the outdoor area overlooks. Al Tayer Stocks was praised for executing the brief of the project “down to a tee”, remaining completely professional throughout the complex project that was delivered to a high standard.
Avli by Tashas, BW Interiors
Avli in DIFC is a premium food and drink venue under the Tashas brand that needed a fit-out executed to high standards, whilst maintaining authenticity with respect to the owner’s Greek heritage. Consisting of the main bar, restaurant, outdoor area and the glamorous Galaxy Bar, BW Interiors was tasked with delivering all MEP, fit-out, and bespoke items and furniture in just four months, whilst minimising disruption to the five-star hotel above.
Arabian Radio Network, Inner Space Interior Design
The design and fit-out of Arabian Radio Network’s office in Media City, Dubai, had to reflect each station’s unique brand and character. Inner Space Interior Design faced several challenges. The operations team had to be extremely careful when laying out cabling and lighting, given the nature of the expensive, high-tech systems used by the station. And as the network regularly welcomes celebrities and senior officials, who need privacy and security, the studios were designed with these fundamentals in mind.
Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Bond Interiors
Bond Interiors worked on the refurbishment of Jumeirah Beach Hotel, completing its scope on time to ensure the hotel opened its doors to the public as planned. Starting with minor demolition right up to delivering the selected FF&E, Bond Interiors was involved in various aspects of the major renovation job, ensuring challenges were strategically overcome to avoid delays or extensions that would have generally ensued in a project of this scale.
Tecom Management Office, Emkay
With a grand double-height entrance lobby, the new Tecom Management Office maximises natural light and features a bespoke metal balustrade that surrounds a feature wall.
It is one of the biggest projects completed by Emkay Interiors, which had a comprehensive scope ranging from demolition right up to the customised furniture. Covering more than one thousand square metres, the project commenced in May 2018 and was completed ahead of schedule in December 2018.
Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Khansaheb Interiors
Khansaheb Interiors carried out Phase 2 of Jumeirah Beach Hotel’s renovation, completing its scope in five months. Having worked on the first phase of the luxury project’s refurbishment, the firm had a massive job to deliver, including refurbishment of 374 guestrooms, a 25-floor atrium and all corridors and lift lobbies. It also carried out demolition and MEP installation in public areas, as well as the demolition and refurbishment in the food studios, external terraces and swimming pool among other areas.
Waldorf Astoria DIFC, Alec Fitout
Alec Fitout completed the fit-out from shell and core of the luxurious Waldorf Astoria DIFC hotel in Dubai in June 2019, after 17 months of work.
Covering more than 35,000m², with a value exceeding $81m (AED300m), the team was responsible for the delivery of all public areas, 275 guestrooms, suites and branded apartments, overcoming major challenging like the integration and coordination of the MEP and audiovisual systems with the fit-out.
