UK holiday operator Thomas Cook will open two hotels in Egypt this year that cut a distinctly stripped-back design.

Both hotels will be located in popular Red Sea holiday hotspot El Gouna, adding more than 200 keys to the company’s portfolio of properties in Egypt as demand continues to rise.

The first hotel to open will be Cook’s Club, a 144-key resort built along a saltwater lagoon. It is due to open in August. The company says the property is “stripped-back in style” with twin and double rooms complete with beautiful outdoor spaces.

Casa Cook El Gouna, the second hotel, will follow in October. It is part of Thomas Cook’s burgeoning line of boutique, family-friendly lifestyle properties.

Cas Cook boasts 100 rooms, with a warm an relaxed Arabic interior design. Set against arid sand dunes and surrounded by lush palm trees, it may be a wonderful oasis retreat for everyone to enjoy.

Room sizes range from standard bedrooms to large villas, all with a contemporary design that blends raw wooden furnishings with tarnished ceramics. Local touches from rattan interiors and neutral linen pay homage to the Egyptian design.

The duo of Thomas Cook hotels comes after the company saw summer and winter bookings rise by 15% and 57% respectively.
