Former Perkins+Will manager Vaida Buchrotaite has joined Dubai-based Swiss Bureau as hospitality design manager, strengthening the fit-out contractor’s hotel and residential arm.
Swiss Bureau’s team in Dubai has more than doubled in the last three years, rising from around 18 to 50 people, and Buchrotaite is the latest person to join the firm as it looks to compete for hospitality and high-rise residential interior design projects.
“I am extremely happy to have joined the Swiss Bureau family, and am very excited to be working with them to promote and grow their hospitality department,” Buchrotaite told Commercial Interior Design.
She joined Swiss Bureau in April after four years with Perkins+Will, and has worked as an interior designer in the UAE and London. A track record of managing large-scale interior design developments – particularly high-rise towers and five-star hotels – was something Swiss Bureau was keen to bring on board, the design house said.
The company added that Buchrotaite has a “track record of delivering high-quality design, attention to detail, and effective project management from pre-concept to completion.”
Hospitality and high-rise towers are segments of the market that Swiss Bureau has historically been less active in, favouring office fit-outs for clients in the public and private sector.
But after coming close to winning a major hospitality project last year, the company’s co-founder and CEO, Joakim De Rham, has said more attention will be given to similar projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia in the future.
