Carpet and flooring manufacturer Shaw Contract has opened a showroom and office in Dubai Design District (d3) as the company sees “long-term growth potential” in Middle Eastern art and design.
Four people will work at the 185m² site in d3, which Shaw Contract said is the first dedicated showroom in Dubai’s thriving creative hub for an international flooring brand.
Joinery firm ARKI Mobili worked with Shaw Contractor on the fit-out of the office and showroom, with the latter operating as main contractor and designer.
The company, which makes its products in Scotland and the US, has worked with big names in the UAE and Oman, with Mastercard, Emirates NBD, and Muscat Insurance Company among those to have used its sustainable flooring products.
Dubai is Shaw Contract’s business hub for the UAE and wider Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. Its strategic decision to open the new space stems from a desire to forge stronger ties with the emirate’s international design, art, and fashion community.
“Our move to d3 helps us meet the need to be closer to, and very much part of, the Dubai and MEA design community,” Shaw Contract’s regional vice president for the MEA, Christopher Champlin, told Commercial Interior Design.
“Dubai is our business hub for UAE and the MEA region – we see long-term growth potential throughout the whole GCC region,” he added.
At the new space in d3 – which is now open for business – Shaw Contract will display a carefully selected portfolio of carpet tiles and flooring, such as the renowned Haven collection, which evokes the feelings of homely comforts in monochromatic hues of grey.
