Nada Debs, Furniture, Craftsmanship, Beirut

Lebanese designer Nada Debs has launched a new collection titled Marquetry Mania, once again exploring the handcrafted technique of marquetry with a colourful and contemporary twist.

The designer’s latest collection juxtaposes linear forms with round shapes, allowing the traditional craft found in the Middle East to take on a new interpretation.

Comprising of home accessories and furniture pieces, the collection conveys solid colour combinations, bold shapes, and mirrored surfaces.

Marquetry Mania is handmade is Lebanon, with marquetry strips being inlaid on sculpted wood and finished with matt lacquer.

The collection consists of a dining and center table, a console, mirrors, side tables, wall and ceiling lighting fixtures and table lamps, as well as a selection of home accessories such as trays and bowls which are designed with the same playful application.

Last year, Debs was the first designer from the Middle East to showcase a collection of her work at the Rossana Orlandi Gallery during Milan Design Week.

The Lebanese designer also  decided to merge her showroom in Beirut with her studio space in a effort to join all operations of her brand  under one roof to allow visitors to better experience both her designs and working environment.
