We are pleased to announce the shortlist for the 2018 CID Awards, which will take place on Wednesday, September 19 at the Joharah Ballroom in the Madinat Jumeirah. This year, we have received 420 submissions across 18 categories from 114 companies throughout the region. Here are the nominees for one of the most anticipated categories of the year.
Interior Design Firm of the Year
Swiss Bureau Interior Design
Celebrating 15 years in the UAE, the firm has worked on many high profile corporate projects including the Emirates Room at the United Nations Office in Geneva, ENOC, Emirates NBD bank, Tecom Group, Julius Baer and Mastercard.
As one of the leading design firms in the region, the practice has a number of projects in the works, such as Anantara Mina Al Arab Resort in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE; the Marriott Resort Taghazout Bay in Agadir, Morocco; as well as numerous high-end residential projects. The studio is expanding its presence overseas with the renovation of the Chill Sky Bar in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
With several projects across different sectors such as hospitality, healthcare, education, aviation and corporate interiors in the Middle East, the firm has rapidly grown from a strength of three people in 2010 to 109 people in 2017. Some of its well-known projects include Dubai International Airport Concourse 2 and 3 and the Jumeirah Emirates Hotel, among others.
The company, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, has worked on multiple big projects recently, such as the Chanel regional headoffice, Daimler Middle East Training Centre, Opus by Zaha Hadid, Imkaan headoffice and Sheikha Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation.
Design Worldwide Partnership
Among the firm's current projects, there is a wide range of corporate, hospitality and residential developments such as the Department of Finance in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and the W hotel, Palm Dubai. It also has a strong presence in Asia working on iconic projects such as the Novotel Siam Sqaure and Mandarin Orchard Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Godwin Austen Johnson
The firm's recent works include the Mysk Al Mouj hotel in Muscat, Oman, Al Bait hotel in Sharjah, one of the conservation projects in the Heart of Sharjah, Sundus Rotana in Oman and Dubai College, among a host of other projects.
